On the 13th of March 2018, following an aborted procedure after a sharp-eyed surgeon caught an anomaly, Michelle was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. At the time doctors told her that treatment may give her 6 to 18 months. She wasn’t buying that; She had family to fight for. Enduring chemo treatments for 2-1/2 days every 2 weeks, monthly trips to MD Anderson in Houston, and treatment at Florida Cancer Centers, she was determined to hold onto life and those in it no matter the cost. After nearly 4 years of fighting, her illness took her on February 13, 2022. Her last weeks were spent with constant visits by family and friends near and far. Her final moments were spent surrounded by those who loved her most.
Throughout her life, Michelle was always more concerned about everyone else than herself. She only cared that her family, and especially her grandsons, never forget how much she loved all of them. She left a legacy of love for her God, her family, and the multitude of communities she spent her life and career serving.
