Orville Bose was a small town boy raised in Sullivan County where he learned to play basketball at a young age. Upon graduating from high school, he was welcomed to Butler University and the basketball team by the legendary coach, Tony Hinkle. He represented Butler in the 1958 and 1959 NIT tournament.
Upon graduation from Butler with a degree in education, he furthered his studies at Indiana University and received a masters and specialist degree in education and administration. For over 35 years, Orville served in the Indiana school systems including North Vernon, North Vermillion , and Fairfield. He worked in various roles including teacher , coach, and administrator. He challenged his students to be their best in all of their endeavors.
Orville was a kind and gentle soul who put his faith and his family first in all that he did. He was a longtime and dedicated member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and morning coffee with friends. He was happiest though , and never missed an opportunity to make a memory with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed travelling with his wife of 62 years.
After being diagnosed in March of 2019 with acute myeloid leukemia, he fought valiantly for almost 2.5 years making many more memories with his family. The example of faith and love that he shared with all those he came in contact with during his illness was an inspiration to all. With his family all around him, he went to be with his Lord and Saviour on July 9, 2021.
